Discover the Altiplano in the North of Chile with its hundreds
of volcanoes along the Andes
Day 1 - Arica
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon
city tour, drive to the beach and the Azapa valley. Overnight.
Day 2 - Arica - Putre
After breakfast drive through typical native villages and the Altiplano
to Putre. Overnight at Putre.
Day 3 - Salar de Surire
Departure from Putre to Salar de Sururi, located at 127 km SE of
Putre and 4245 meters above sea level. A big part of this tour will
be through protected areas like the National reserve Las Vicuñas
and the Natural monument of Sururi wich preserve the fragil ecosystem
of the Altiplanic , we will visit, millenaries villages built in
stones , authentics Aymara communities, Ancuta, Guallatiri, Viluvio,
and the Guallatiri volcano . Sururi Salar is the place were live
the 3 species of Flamengo, the Yames, the Andean and the Chilean.
Picnic on the route and in the afternoon return to Putre.
Day 4 - National Park Lauca
Full day excursion to the 520,000 hectare Lauca National Park. View
the emerald-colored and volcano-rimmed Lake Chungará, one
of the highest lakes in the world. See steppes with rare and abundant
fauna - vicuñas, alpacas and Andean flamingoes; Spanish influenced
small towns situated in narrow ravines on terraces dating back to
the Incas and the famous pictographs of the primitive Atacama Desert
Man in the Lluta Valley. Overnight in Arica.
Day 5 - Arica
After breakfast transfer to the airport.
