Day 1 - Calama
/ San Pedro de Atacama
At the airport, a transfer will pick you up and bring you to the
hotel. In the late afternoon you get a ride to the Moon Valley to
enjoy the impressive scenery of the Atacama Desert while watching
the beautiful sunset. Price includes not the entrance fee. Dinner
after that. Overnight.
Day 2 - San Pedro de Atacama
For this morning a walking city tour in San Pedro de Atacama is
planned. You will discover by foot the sightseeing of the oasis
and visit the archeological museum Le Paige (entrance fee not included).
In the afternoon you take part in an excursion to the salt lake
"Salar de Atacama", which represents with 300,000ha the
largest salt deposits of Chile.
The white, crusted, and partially by sand of the desert covered
surface hids a great lake. The very dry air makes it possible to
grasp the whole stretching of the salt lake. Different water birds
, among others flamingos, can be observed. Overnight.
Day 3 - San Pedro de Atacama / Calama
Early in the morning, departure to the Geysers of El Tatio, in order
to become witness of an unique natural spectacle with the light
of the frist sunbeams, in a surrounding amidst of coloured minerals.
At El Tatio you will be served breakfast. After that we are going
on to Calama, passing the Indian villages Caspana, Lasana, and Chiu
Chiu. The transfer includes picnic at lunch time. Overnight.
Day 4 - Calama / Iquique
Today, a transfer will bring you to Iquique. En route you will visit
the paintings Chugchug, Humberstone (saltpeter mine, ghost town).
In Iquique you will have a short city tours (main square, national
theatre, and the houses of the colonists of the sepletre barons).
Overnight.
Day 5 - Iquique / Putre
Today you will go to Putre. On the way, we see geo gluphics, we
visit Arica and the Azapa Valley where olives are cultivated. Putre
is a village of the Aymaras. Overnight.
Day 6 - Putre / Arica
Today you will visit the National Parque Lauca which was declared
a biosphere reserve by the UNESCO. There you will see the 4,517
m high situated Chungara Lake. Many animal species, like flamingos,
vicuñas, ñandus, ad vichasas live here. From here,
we will see the twin volcanoes, which reach a height of 6,000m.
Drive to Arica. Overnight.
Day 7 - Arica
After breakfast you will be brought to the airport. End of the
trip.
